WRERR's Debut at May Daze 2008
WRERR would like to thank everyone that stopped by our booth at May Daze on May 4th. Todd and Davy Crockett, Sky, and John enjoyed meeting all the young people and visitors that stopped by for a pony ride or just to find out about the Rescue.
We hope that you enjoyed learning about the other rescued horses and ponies at WRERR, memberships and volunteer opportunities, as well as horses that need sponsorships and those that are available for adoption or foster homes.
We would also like to thank our volunteers who helped make our debut at May Daze a success!

Our first major fundraising project. Winding Road Equine Rescue and Retirement, Inc. has begun construction of a rail fence to provide safe containment for the horses that will pass through their gates to a haven of care, protection, love and respect. The fence will line the long, winding road that gently curves through the middle of the facility. This fence will do something beyond enclose the horses—through this unique fundraising effort, you can contribute to the construction and also become a long-lasting part of the horse rescue. It also allows us to recognize our donors and supporters that help us continue to do what we do.
Anyone who wishes to support the care of the horses may purchase one of these personalized plaques. The plaques are available to individuals, organizations and businesses and can display the donor’s name or business. It can also be donated in memory or honor of a loved one (animals included, of course.)
When the facility officially opens this summer and visitors walk the winding road to see the rescued and retired horses, they will also be able to see their name and the names of friends and neighbors who have made a contribution to the care and safety of these wonderful horses.
Top Rail plaques are available for purchase at $50.00. Other plaques to be mounted at random are $35.00 Your purchase will help the horses--show your support and allow us to recognize your generosity.
We are a totally volunteer-operated organization. EVERY penny raised goes directly to the care of the horses.
Several more sections have been added and are waiting for plaques. Once completed, this paddock will be able to house two or three horses rescued from neglect or slaughter, or those who are retired and living out their days in comfort and safety at Winding Road.
Please be a part of our first major fundraising project as we work to achieve our goals. Get a Donation Form or use the PayPal button above to make a general donation now.

"Valentine Rescue"
The alarm went off at 3:30 a.m. Monday morning, February 4, 2008. We did chores, then pulled out in the darkness with the stock trailer, and headed for a notorious sale barn in Iowa. We were joining forces with two other rescues to save as many horses as we could from a likely fate of slaughter. Read Full Story
